handyDART is a transportation service for persons who are unable to use conventional transit service without assistance. You must be registered with the handyDART office before you can use the service. To register, call 250-495-8054. handyDART staff will ask your name, mailing address and telephone number, then send you an application form. Please complete the application and return to:

For eligible handyDART clients, the Route 1 Osoyoos bus will deviate from its fixed route for door-to-door pick-ups and drop-offs within Osoyoos and Oliver.

Pick-up in Penticton is at the Food Fair at Cherry Lane Mall at the regular transit stop. (See the Penticton Transit System schedule for service to Cherry Lane Mall.) Pick-up in Summerland is at the 711 store at junction of Hwy 97 and turnoff.

Booking a Trip

To book a trip, call the South Okanagan Transit Society at 250-495-8054.
Early morning trip: call before 12:00 noon the day prior to your trip. Mid-morning trip: call by 10:00 am the day of your trip.

Leave a message with the details listed below, and our scheduler will return your call.

When you call

Please leave your name and phone number on the ansering machine. When the scheduler calls you, please be ready with the following information:

• Your name and phone number
• What day you want to travel
• Where you want to be picked up
• Your destination and the time you want to arrive
• What time you want to return
• Any special equipment you use(walker, wheelchair, cane, etc)
• Whether you will have an attendent with you
  (An attendent is someone whose help you need to make the trip. He or she rides free)

Cancelling a Trip

If your plans change, and you no longer need your reserved seat, it is important that you call and cancel your trip. Someone else may be able to travel in your place. To cancel a return trip, please contact the driver directly at 250-498-7374.

Please be ready to travel a few minutes before the scheduled arrival time. If you are using a wheelchair, be sure it is equipped with a lap belt. Please make sure that your lap belt is secured at all times during the trip.
