BC Transit Enhanced Games Time Service

BC Transit's Whistler Transit System will offer 5 times more service than our regular winter service this February, including frequent event shuttle service.

The bus fleet will expand from 39 to 135 buses to serve the estimated 2.1 million customers expected during February. Existing Whistler routes will run more often, 8 new routes will be introduced and some routes, like the Squamish and Pemberton connectors, will run 24 hours a day. In Whistler, our goal is to have 90 per cent of homes within 400 metres of a bus stop.

Transportation Options

BC Transit is the official provider of public transportation for the 2010 Winter Games in Whistler, and on the Sea to Sky corridor between Squamish and Pemberton.

In February, road and parking restrictions may make vehicle travel difficult. Whistler’s parking lots for day-skiers will be used by VANOC to support the 2010 Winter Games. In addition, permits will be required at certain times of day for vehicles traveling north of Squamish.

If you are travelling from the Vancouver area, many commercial carriers offer service to Whistler. Check out www.travelsmart2010.ca for more information or the Links page on this website.

Walking and cross-country skiing are convenient and accessible transportation options in Whistler.

Queues and Boarding

Enjoy Whistler and the 2010 Winter Games but come prepared for the crowds. Lineups for transit service may build, especially after events. If possible, try to arrange non-essential travel during off-peak times. The average temperature in February is -2°C (30F). Enjoy the Olympics and the hospitality of the area but come prepared for the weather and dress warmly.

Open alcohol containers are not permitted on board.
